It shall be the purpose of A Medio Camino to connect to the Spanish-speaking community at Kenyon and inform the local community about news stories relating Hispanic issues. This newspaper will also help maintain and improve students’ Spanish skills by both writing and reading various articles, and also by bringing light to the Spanish language both inside and outside of the classroom. Finally, A Medio Camino will foster cultural and linguistic diversity here at Kenyon.

Alpha Delta Phi fraternity fosters a diverse and lively group that betters the community through diversity, leadership, scholarly pursuits, and the development of moral character. The Black Student Union of Kenyon College is a political, social and supportive organization. We seek to understand campus conditions, the campus heartbeat, global situations, and act or react appropriately. This understanding can only be realized through the adamant efforts of an organized group of members dedicated to this purpose. The B.S.U. will strive with resounding tenacity to uphold the dignity of Black peoples everywhere, but especially those on the Hill. Blu-Ray Ultimate Frisbee is a strong group of players who love sports but don't love the extreme intensity of varsity sports. We provide an opportunity for individuals to become part of a group that is not only athletic but also provides a sense of community and fosters friendships off the field.

The mission of the Crozier Center for Women is to be a safe space for all people to discuss and think critically about gender and gender identity/expression; to be a presence on campus that addresses issues across the gender spectrum while focusing special attention on marginalized gender experiences (i.e. those of women and transgender/non-binary people); and to provide safer sex programming, information and resources.

Led by two student managers under the direction of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Crozier Center for Women is a living and learning space, which serves as a resource and facility for gender-based programming. Regular programming includes heritage month celebrations, discussions about gender identity and expression, film screenings, and much more. The Dance Team is an inclusive space for students to create, participate, and perform across a variety of dance styles, such as jazz and hip-hop. The Dance Team is a group of committed but non-competitive dancers who love to provide an entertaining and energetic experience for audience members.

Once a student has been accepted onto the team, they will not have to audition again in subsequent years and their membership will only expire once they graduate, voluntarily leave, or are asked to leave by executive members. They will participate in all group performances and are invited to all team bonding activities. As members, they will play an active role in choosing future members during auditions. Each spring, they will have the opportunity to conceptualize, direct, and choreograph a small group piece that will be performed during our final show. All members are welcome and encouraged to help choreograph all group pieces as well. The Horn Gallery is a student-run arts and performance space. We provide high quality events in our beautiful little barn. The building has two floors with a concert and theatrical performance venue, community space and a practice room.

The Horn Gallery for the Arts, as stated following its renovation in the Year 2000, is dedicated to supporting a cooperative environment open to creative endeavors and free expression. Student organized and driven, the Horn Gallery seeks to create a community that extends beyond the boundaries of Kenyon’s academic life. The Horn’s greatest asset is that it stands on equal ground, communicating in an open forum. Limited only to your imagination, anything can be done within the Horn community.

Musicians, artists, bands, cooks and political activists shall meet throughout the week to share and strengthen their work. The Horn is a place of gathering in which members of the Kenyon community may exchange ideas, express creativity, and bestow knowledge toward others in a relaxed and supportive environment. An innately political space, the Horn invites radical and liberative thought to be explored in all mediums.

The Horn Gallery also contracts student-selected artists, bands, and poets to share their work to the student body, putting on four to eight shows of this nature per semester. Always advocating for equity, we try our best for ~ 50 % contracted artists to be people of color.

As a tutoring and mentorship program, our organization centers Hispanic youth and community empowerment in education. We strive to make educational and community resources more accessible to the Hispanic community of Knox County, particularly given the barriers the Hispanic community encounters as immigrants. Our program prides ourselves in crafting fulfilling, meaningful relationships between Kenyon students and local Hispanic communities. We value reciprocity between Kenyon students and the Mount Vernon Hispanic community, youth academic growth, and culturally-inclusive practices and activities.

Tutors get the opportunity to work with students, kids, and adult learners in the Mount Vernon community. The tutors will learn from our community members and practice Spanish. Tutors are strongly encouraged to care about social topics relevant to the Mount Vernon Hispanic community: particularly, immigration, culturally-diverse teaching practices, educational inequality, and more. Tutors are encouraged but not required to have relevant previous tutoring experience and/or Spanish language skills. Tutors are required to attend at least two sessions every month, unless Leadership decides otherwise on a case-by-case basis. Through this tutoring program, Kenyon students will be exposed to hands-on, direct learning and practice with tutoring a minority community. Particularly, tutors have the opportunity to engage in bilingual and multicultural educational and mentorship practices.

Model United Nations at Kenyon (KMUN) aims to provide a place where students can explore international relations, improve their speech & debate skills, and travel to Model UN conferences. KMUN is open to all Kenyon students regardless of their experience with Model UN.

All members are eligible to be a member of a delegation for mock, local, and national conferences. Conferences are events where KMUN members simulate the United Nations. Mock conferences are Kenyon wide, Local conferences are in Ohio with other Ohio colleges, and National conferences are held at a national level. In order to be considered a member of KMUN, you must attend at least three meetings a semester and waive or pay any applicable dues. Once you are considered a member, you will receive an email and be added as a member to KCon.

The objective of the Multicultural Identities Organization at Kenyon is to carve out a space for people of mixed identities, including biracial, multiracial, and adopted students who feel themselves to be on the margin of many racial and cultural groups. This is a club exclusively dedicated to addressing what it means to feel caught in between racial and cultural groups/backgrounds. There are many intersections between the experiences of mixed and adoptees, namely a shared sense of alienation and disconnect with other affinity groups. Combining mixed and adoptee identities would help unify a larger support network as well as help us learn each others’ perspectives.

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) serves as the hub for campus involvement outside of the classroom. The OSE can help students connect their passion to their life’s purpose while linking to other students with shared interests. Students who are involved are proven to have a more robust and enriching college experience.

Serving over 100 active student organizations, the OSE oversees interest-based organizations, club sports, as well as Greek Life. Organizations are divided into a variety of categories such as media and publications, health and wellness, multicultural and identity based, academic and pre-professional, creative and performing arts, political and activism, as well as environmental and sustainability. Students also have the ability to charter new student organizations if one doesn’t currently exist that meets their needs. Each fall semester, the office hosts a Student Involvement Fair showcasing active organizations as well as ways to engage with other campus and community partners.

Kenyon’s historic campus is home to some of the nation’s oldest Greek organizations. Kenyon boasts four national fraternities, three local and one national sororities, and one gender inclusive community service-based society. About 25% of the campus is involved in a Greek organization. Greek membership is built on the pillars of leadership, service, ritual, friendship and scholarship.

The OSE also supports initiatives of Student Council, Kenyon’s student government. The Student Engagement staff advise some of the largest and most active student organizations on campus including Social Board (the campus programming board), the Horn Gallery (live music and arts venue) and the WKCO 91.9 FM radio station. OSE also advises various Class Committees that are tied to Student Council.

You’ll also find the OSE supporting signature campus events such as Orientation and Welcome Week, Homecoming, Family Weekend and a Kenyon staple, Summer Sendoff, (planned by Social Board) each April.

The Kenyon College Ombudsperson (Ombuds) is a neutral conflict resolution professional whose primary responsibility is to be an informal and independent resource for people who have questions, concerns or issues internal to the College. All students, faculty and staff may consult with the ombuds about whatever is troubling them. The ombuds will listen without judgment, help with evaluating options and may provide coaching tips on how best to proceed. All communication is held confidential with limited exceptions. Meetings can be held at the ombuds' office, another location, virtually or over the phone.

The Owl Creek Singers are an alto-soprano a cappella group that has been at Kenyon for almost 50 years. We perform two concerts, a revue and several cabarets throughout the academic year with an eclectic repertoire that ranges from soul and pop music to oldies.
